Our group of five volunteers slept, fellowshipped and cooked our meals at the Holy Apostles Orthodox Church, 724 Buff St., West Columbia, SC 29169. Throughout the week, we worked on a flood damaged home located in the greater West Columbia, SC area. UCC Disaster Ministries has had a presence in West Columbia since early December 2015.
Seen in the photo included with this message from L to R you can see Bill, Ellen, Amy, Susan & Robert standing on a 14′ by 20′ concert patio that the group jack hammered and prepared for replacement. Beside jack hammering, the group installed new rain spouting, painted, dug and graded soil in the back yard in preparation for new side walk, repaired and sanded drywall then removed old damaged popcorn ceiling in the in the garage area. Our group of five PCC Disaster Ministries volunteers were very fortunate to meet the family that lived in this flood damaged home!
UCC Disaster Ministries still need lots of volunteers at these site locations, please consider volunteering or organizing a group of DM volunteers at your local church: http://www.ucc.org/disaster_disaster-volunteers
